The Goings-on !!

Surely you feel left in the dark these days since it’s been a while since the last post !

My apologies for that.  If there is no post, there is no assigned homework for that night as a general rule.

We are trying hard to finish the Animal research projects. Today, 60% of the class went to the French Drama Festival with Mme.Dallaire but the rest stayed back with me for some extra time and attention to the writing task.

Students need to be done of the note taking piece for the 6 sections of their project by the end of tomorrow .. I will list the 6 sections in tomorrow’s log.

thanks for your patience with this sporadically updated section of the blog parents!

What a week - no busses and a network freeze ! Our computers were down at the school here for parts of 2 days… I would have blogged from home but those with dial-up know what that can be like … my apologies!

We had a busy week with a band concert yesterday and the fuss over busses .

Today we had the 10 word French spelling test and we watched a new French Science DVD I had ordered from TVOntario called Bouge Ta Science which had some enviro concepts and a variety of cool science stuff.

Thanks for your response to the Coupon Book Sale as well.

Students who wish to support Easter Seals can wear their pyjamas tomorrow after the play - 2$… some students participated in that today to be able to wear them for the full day.

Please note that due to the timing and travel for the play tomorrow, there will be no opportunity for a mid-morning snack. Hopefully a bigger breakfast will due.

I’m not sure if you were informed of this detail, but the play is called “Le Miroir” and the theme is self esteem.

We had some left-over ice cream so we’ve continuing to sell it at  1$ apiece this week..but to the downstairs Immersion classes only since the supply is limited.

We are doing the spring /summer artwork that will be posted in the school’s front lobby in a couple of weeks. We will start those colorful paintings tomorrow.

We look forward to a French play about self esteem at the Carrefour this coming Friday morning at 10 a.m.

Our school Heritage Fair went very well, it was available to grade 5 and 6’s only as usual. Hopefully the social studies work we are presently doing will motivate the students to try the fair next year.

Early Morning sports continues through the month of April when( hopefully ) the weather will be kinder.

There is news though, we earned 225$ today for Kenya with our 2nd Ice Cream Sale! There were 375 sandwiches sold in all. Thanks to the Cornwall Save Easy for selling them to us at cost!

We had 5 students absent today .. but only 1 parent contacted us to let us know the story. I encourage you all to let us know as soon as possible why your child may be absent. Thanks in advance.

You can expect 2 notes home today, one is regarding the suspension of the Breakfast Program due to behavioral issues and a lack of volunteer help. The second notice refers to the upcoming sale of Spring Fling tickets.

Hi Folks

You may have noticed that the comments option for each blog post is now available to you. If you have specific questions for me, though, you can reach me more effectively at my email : eliotriver@hotmail.com

Today we researched name origins at ancestry.com in the computer lab. This is a tie in to the Heritage unit in social studies. The students were excited about the meanings and countries of origin of their names.

There will be another Ice Cream sandwich sale this Friday in support of the Mikinduri Children of Hope charity…1$/sandwich the ice cream is Chapmans- peanut free.
